0: BAKE at 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes
1: MAKES 9 x 5-inch loaf
2: Pour boiling water over dates and soda
3: Cool
4: Sift together flour and salt
5: Add nuts, chopped
6: Blend together the butter and brown sugar or granulated sugar in mixing bowl
7: Blend in 2 unbeaten eggs; beat well
8: Add dry ingredients alternately with the date mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients
9: Blend well after each addition
10: Turn into one 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan or 3 No
11: 2 cans, well greased on the bottom
12: Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 60 to 70 minutes
13: Cool before slicing
14: *For use with Pillsbury's Best Self-Rising Flour, omit soda and salt
